Bethel Woods Center in Sullivan County, NY
"Give peace a chance"
This is the site of the original Woodstock Concert in 1969. It is now the Bethel Woods Performing Arts center. It is absolutely beautiful. It is historic. It carries on the legacy. In the words of a German visitor, “It is an ideal, something that could never happen again, a birth place to all festivals…a movement…a message of peace.” There is a Woodstock museum. They offer classes to kids, like in photography. It was built by a local self-made billionaire, Alan Gerry. The concerts that are held here now continue the musical tradition of Woodstock.

One of the original attendees of Woodstock, Duke Devlin, continued here as a volunteer, explaining the site to visitors. I knew him because he worked in a local school. I would bring friends to see the site and he was always so nice! Whenever friends visit the area, I bring them to see Bethel Woods.
