Emma Bennett, a 10-year-old girl from Houston, Texas, has had a prosthetic right leg since she was nine months old due to surgery for a rare birth defect. Ever since she was little, she has dreamed of a doll that looked just like her: a doll with a pink prosthetic leg. Thanks to a company called A Step Ahead Prosthetics, Emma got her wish—and thanks to a video posted by Emma’s mother, Courtney Fletcher Bennett, the whole world got to share Emma’s unbridled joy upon seeing her new doll for the first time.

“You got to be kidding me!” Emma gasps at her family before bursting into tears of happiness. “It’s got a leg like me!”

A Step Ahead Prosthetics fits dolls for prosthetic limbs free of charge (they also make real prosthetics). Along with Emma’s doll was a note from the company reading, “After she arrived, [your doll] was given a room to stay in while her new leg was being made. She was fitted with a leg in her favorite color, pink, and started walking on it right away. After a few weeks of training to walk and run in her new prosthetic, she is ready to go home and live her life without limitations with you.”

“We feel that it is absolutely crucial to boost the self-confidence, self-esteem, and feelings of inclusion for little girls with limb loss,” A Step Ahead’s website says, “and that something as small as a doll that resembles them can have a profound effect on their mental and physical well-being.”

The video was originally posted to Facebook on June 1, and now has more than 32 million views. Everyone at A Step Ahead watched the video together. “Everybody was crying, they were so moved,” Jessica Terranova, a member of the company’s legal affairs department told Daily News. “We work very hard. It makes it all worthwhile.”
